| Nous quittons Beyrouth en direction de Byblos, une des plus anciennes cités du monde, et lieu de grands échanges avec l'Égypte et la Méditerrannée. Visite du charmant village de Byblos et du vaste et impressionnant site archéologique de l'ancienne cité, un pèlerinage sur plus de 7000 ans d'histoire. Puis déjeuner dans un restaurant typique face à l'ancien port dont l'une des tours subsiste et dont une chaîne énorme fermait l'entrée.
We quit Beyrouth towards Byblos, one of the most ancient cities of the world and site of great exchange with Egypt and the Mediterrania. Visit of the charming village of Byblos and of the vast and impressive archeological site of the ancient city, a pilgrim of more than 7000 years of history. Then, dinner in a typical restaurant facing the entrance of the old port where subsists one of the two towers from where a chain was closing the entrance to the port. |
| La fondation de Byblos remonte à la plus haute Antiquité, puisqu'au IVème millénaire la ville était déjà un important centre commercial et religieux. Les fouilles archéologiques ont permis de dégager des vestiges considérables, dont le sarcophage du roi Ahiram qui porte la plus ancienne inscription phénicienne connue.
The fondation of Byblos goes beyond the high Antiquity, since on the IVth millenum the city was already an important commercial and religious center. The archeological diggings where importants among which was discover the sarcophagus of king Ahiram which bears the most ancient known phenician inscription. |
